An interesting history
Whinmoor has an interesting history. While today it is used largely as a residential area for commuters to Leeds city centre, at one time it was a battleground; in 1643 it was host to the Battle of Seacroft Moor. The area gradually developed into more of an agricultural space, and had transformed into a satellite town by the 1950s.

A brilliant choice of schools and good transport links
Whinmoor has one of the largest selections of local schools in the city. There are five nearby primary schools, two academies and a Catholic college for older children. Situated just off the A64 on the way to York, Whinmoor has good transport links. It takes just half an hour to get to York, and Leeds city centre is just 6 miles away. Rail links are also available from the Cross Gates train station.

Plenty to do right on your doorstep
One of the great things about Whinmoor is the fact that it’s close to a lot of open green spaces. So, if you like to be surrounded by nature and away from the bustling city environment, this is definitely an area to consider. There are two parks close by, including Bramham Park and the famous Roundhay Park. These provide great picnic spots and a place for the kids to play. Harewood House and Eccup Reservoir are also within easy reach. Of course, Leeds city centre and York are close by, providing a huge range of things to do.  A good selection of amenities and shops.  Although Whinmoor is a little further out of the city than many other areas, you’ll still find everything you need right on your doorstep. The Seacroft Green Shopping Centre is close by, home to stores such as Tesco Express, Brantano and JD Sports. The Cross Gates high street is also easy to reach, offering all of your essential amenities and bargain stores.

Overall, Whinmoor provides excellent opportunities for first-time buyers. It boasts a great range of properties and lower than average house prices, making it a more affordable area of Leeds to live and invest in.
